Ilana Weets

Principal / Teacher

Meet Ilana...

My name is Ilana, I am 26 years old and I am the owner of Hype One Studios.

I started dancing when I was 3 years old and the rest is history! Since I can remember I have been in love with the Performing Arts and knew I wanted to perform and teach as a career.

When I left school after completing my A Levels, I gained a place on the foundation course at SLP College in Leeds, before moving on to the 3 year Musical Theatre course and graduating with a Level 6 Diploma in Musical Theatre.

Whilst auditioning for performing jobs, I was lucky to be offered a job in Administration, which I unexpectedly began to really enjoy. I continue to work there to this day and I have now worked my way up to Senior Administrator. My place of work has a relatively small number of staff, therefore I cover a few different areas of Administration, including HR and Finance. I found a love for HR that I did not know I had, which has led to me currently studying for my Level 5 Diploma in HR Management.

I have always dreamt of having my own Performing Arts school and after a difficult last year I could not think of a better time to start my exciting new venture and share my experience and love for the arts with the performers of tomorrow.

ˈYou cant wait until lifeˈs not hard anymore before you decide to be happy... Believe in the Hype, Believe in Yourself.ˈ

Amanda Hardwick

Teacher

Meet Amanda...

My name is Amanda, I am 23 years old and I am a Dance Teacher at Hype One Studios.

I stepped into my first pair of ballet shoes at the age of two and I have loved dancing ever since.
It is a great passion of mine and I wish to share my love for it with as many people as I possibly can.

Having trained professionally in Singing, Acting and Dancing from the age of 16, I graduated three years later with my Level 6 Diploma in Dance. I love all three disciplines in the Performing Arts, but Dancing has always been my main focus.

Growing up with Dance has allowed me to become the woman I am today, it gave me structure when I needed it the most. It was a home away from home. I had a strong sense of family wherever I went, and could always truly be myself.

I am now a Wedding Co-ordinator / Host and I use every skill I learnt in Performing Arts in my day to day job.

I am thrilled to be starting with Hype One Studios as a Teacher and I am looking forward to starting this new and exciting journey with my colleagues and students.

Xylia Milsom

Teaching Assistant

Meet Xylia...

My name is Xylia, and I am 19 years old. I am currently studying Primary Education at York St John university and I hope to go on to specialise in Drama.
I am heading into Year 2 next year which focuses on diversity and have just completed placement in a school with a diverse range of needs.

I have always had a passion for Drama and Singing and I have completed many singing exams in a combination of Musical Theatre and Pop, with my final exam being Grade 8.
I
have experience of taking part in Drama Summer Schools throughout my teenage years and I have also performed in many school concerts, including one for the RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People.)

In my final years at school, I was a Drama Prefect, Pre-Prep Reading Prefect and a First-year Mentor and I embraced all these roles to their fullest.
Being a Drama Prefect gave me the opportunity to help run the Senior School play, in which my main area of focus was costume. I also ran the schools ‘House Music’ event with a group of friends and my house won!

At the end of school, I was awarded the Watson Cup at my schools prizegiving ceremony, for my contribution to Technical Theatre.

My hobbies include reading, singing and makeup. I am also a huge Harry Potter fan!
I hope to bring my passion of Drama and Music to Hype One Studios and help the next generation of Theatre dazzle!
